70's Leather, Rubber and Vinyl Fun Wear

Long before Dame Vivienne Westwood was a celebrated international fashion designer she ran a little shop on the Kings Road with her then partner Malcome McLaren.

Among other things, they sold leather, rubber and vinyl clothing. The shop named "Sex" became a must visit location for fetishwear enthusiasts from around the world visiting London.

Sadly gone, but most definitely not forgotten.

Welcome to Remaretro

The name Remaretro is a combination of a company name "Remawear" and the word "retro" meaning imitative of a style, fashion, or design from the recent past.

While we have no direct connection with the original Remewear, other than having the good fortune to have enjoyed some of the company's truly wonderful creations produced in latex rubber and leather. We believe that the owner of Remawear along with John Sutcliffe of Atomage and the highly regarded Brian Reid were all inspirational pioneers in the field of fetishwear, and should be celebrated for their contributions to the dressing for pleasure (kink scene) dating back over the past fifty years.

First and foremost, Remaretro is an homage to both these and the other men and women who have truly understood the subject fetishism and worked hard to bring to fruition some of the kinkiest designs to ever see the light of day.

Of course, they were from the UK, but there were (and still are) some other highly talented designers from around the world, who have produced some wonderful garments over the years.

This blog celebrates their contributions some of which we hope to feature in the future.
